Congresswoman Diana DeGette
U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette is serving her 9th term in Congress as Representative for the First District of Colorado, and is Chief Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus. As a senior member of the powerful Committee on Energy and Commerce, she fights for effective energy legislation, advocating for a balanced approach that protects our health, conserves our natural resources, and moves our nation towards energy independence. In her capacity as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, she is the leading Democratic voice on major investigations, including reviewing the solar loan guarantee program, examining the potential health and safety threats of hydraulic fracturing, and ensuring critical EPA protections do not fall victim to political gamesmanship.
A fourth-generation Coloradoan, DeGette is guided by traditional Western values and has spent her career fighting for common-sense conservation and the responsible development of domestic energy resources. She is the author of the FRAC Act, a bill designed to ensure that as the US leverages the great economic potential of natural gas, we do so safely and responsibly. Rep. DeGette is also a leading voice for ethical embryonic stem cell research, reproductive healthcare services, and consumer protection in Congress. DeGette is the senior member of Colorado’s delegation and she currently lives in Denver with her husband Lino and their two daughters.
